LETTER TO FUTURE OWNER

Dear Prospective Buyer,

This house is a true home. Once you live here you’ll never want to leave – given that over the last (almost) 100 years only 3 families have called this their home can attest to the fabulous location and wonderful space. We call our home the little big house. Unassuming from the front – tons of space inside! There is lots of room for everyone to be and yet still feels warm and inviting. Being on the corner provides the best sight lines! While sitting in the living room you can see straight to the Reservation!

We’ve loved being near Columbia High School; I can’t tell you how many times we have been over there. With all that it provides, it feels like a performing arts center with a built in community center. Columbia High School is home to one of New Jersey’s best theater companies plus hosts an amazing lecture series, free violin classes for kids, swimming, exercise, art classes and more for adults and children. Go once and you’ll be amazed it is the heartbeat of the towns. And speaking of the of towns, we are in the center – close to South Orange, we will take a family walk to go get bagels or to a coffee shop on a Sunday or grab a Frisbee for a walk to Memorial park and then into Maplewood; usually picking up a few friends on the way. I run through the parks every day – we are close to so many. Great for kids but also for adults.

It is so conveniently close to al the fun events like Maplewoodstock, fireworks, and the annual Halloween block party.   We love not having to drive. (economical and environmental)    We sometimes even “rent” out our driveway to friends so that they can enjoy the closeness. Easy peasy, my kids are now walking there on their own. I must also mention the ease of the train. Having the option to choose which station, South Orange or Maplewood makes the schedule twice as easy.

We have celebrated so many events and milestones here at “1 North” (that’s what our friends call it!), it’s a true house to hold a party – from dinner parties in the large dining room, to birthday parties in the serene backyard to huge 100 plus parties in the house – that full basement makes a great kid zone while the adults can have a flow through the main floor.   Not to mention all the neighborhood parties, BBQs, the annual block party, caroling in the winter, trick or treating in the fall, and lemonade stands in the summer  – this block is truly the best! We never put up a fence because our kids run through all the backyards, playing with all the neighborhood kids catching fireflies all summer, throwing snowballs all winter. I know it sounds like a television show, but for real, there are so many kids, big, small and furry, we’ve never had to make “playdates” because they are outside playing!

We hope you will love this house as much as we have for the last fourteen years – it went by in a minute. Our oldest was just a year when we moved in, we brought home two more to join him, and began to raise our children here. This house will always be their home in our hearts.

Best Wishes,

The Current Owners of 1 North Terrace
