To the Future Homeowners,

Looking back on the almost thirteen years in our home in Maplewood, we feel very pleased about our stay here. This community has so much to offer on so many levels.

We have a wide range of neighbors from seniors to younger couples with small children. Within the block, we have made such good friends with our neighbors. Most importantly, we have a real sense of community we have never found elsewhere. Neighbors watch out for each other, lending a hand in times of need.

With a quick ten minute walk to the train station, NYC is only 35 minutes away. Getting off the train at the end of a stressful day and walking through the well kept Memorial Park refreshes one’s spirit. The convenience of the short walk to town for some of the best restaurants and shops is yet another perk of Maplewood. Arturos artisan pizza, Lorena’s, a top 10 restaurant in NJ for the last five years running, Sushi, Italian, Mexican, Burgers, Deli, Bagel Chateau, and a bunch of great small shops, it’s all there. Pathmark, ShopRite, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are all a quick five minute drive away. For more fabulous restaurants, Montclair, Hoboken and Newark’s incredible Iron-Bound district are all just 15-20 minutes away.

Tuscan School, one of the district’s finest elementary schools is three blocks away. Maplewood Middle School is about a six minute walk and Columbia High School is a fifteen minute walk. We have a very well stocked and staffed Library.

In the summer, the town pool and Rec Dept offer a myriad of things for kids to enjoy; tennis lessons, skateboarding, basketball, little league, t-ball, and the High School has one of the finest Ultimate Frisbee teams in the state.

We have put a lot of time and effort into the renovations we have made in our home. We spent five years looking for the right person to fix and refinish the floors on the first floor. After years of neglect by the previous owners we needed to make the investment in bringing back the spectacular beauty of the wood floors. We found Phillip Paris in Orange, NJ, who does wood restoration for churches and museums. He meticulously rebuilt portions of the floor piece by piece and then refinished the floors with an oil-based finish by hand. We have found a fabulous crew of contractors; from general contractors, to electricians, and plumbers. We found real craftsmen, who take great pride in their work and we believe it shows. From the kitchen and master bath we renovated and the deck and sliding glass doors off the kitchen, we wanted the job done right.

We will always remember Maplewood with great fondness. It was a great place to raise a child and a real oasis from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan.

Sincerely,
The Current Homeowners
