A cozy living room, perfect for intimate entertaining, a large half bath, and a handsome mahogany-walled office with wood-burning fireplace, can be found to the left. You can’t miss the impressive dining room to your right with double chandeliers, wainscoting, chair rail, coffered ceiling and large windows. As you head towards the kitchen, you’ll walk through the large butler’s pantry with custom built-ins, wine fridge, and separate bar area – perfect for entertaining! The open kitchen is sure to impress with SubZero refrigerator, Thermador range, double ovens, incredible storage space, farm sink, and expansive Italian quartz island. Additional features include a custom built-in desk and large eat-in area. Adjacent to the kitchen is a full bath and smart mudroom, complete with custom storage, washer and dryer, and island. Behind the kitchen, you’ll find a generous sunroom. The cathedral ceiling, skylights, and ceiling fans create a relaxing and sunny space – a perfect transition room before heading outdoors. The sunken family room is both bright and cozy, featuring floor to ceiling windows, french doors out to the patio, wood burning fireplace with large brick hearth and coffered ceiling.
I can’t imagine that anybody could need a better kitchen. I don’t even know if there is one. I personally love the green quartz countertop. I think it’s very pretty and quite different. There’s so much cabinet space despite the fact that I have 5 sets of dishes and a gazillion cooking things I never even came close to using all the cabinet space! People love to gather in the kitchen and it’s a kitchen where lots of people can work simultaneously and help out and everybody just likes to be in that kitchen.
The second floor features 6 full bedrooms, including the master suite, 3 additional ensuite bathrooms, an office/nursery and an additional guest bedroom and hall bath. A second laundry room and back staircase down to the kitchen provide convenience on the second floor. A generous master suite boasts 6 windows and tremendous views to the backyard. The adjacent office (or nursery) is convenient and cozy, featuring a wood burning fireplace. Off of the bedroom, sits a large bathroom complete with built-in vanity, his and hers sinks, jetted whirlpool tub and oversized, glass-enclosed steam shower. Continue on to the closet with a flexible and well-planned “California Closet” system.
I like the master bedroom because there are doors between each section – so if one of us is getting up early we can get up, close the door, take a shower, close the next door, get dressed and go right out the back door from the closet and downstairs without disturbing anybody. I really liked that flow. My husband does a lot of international business, so he would get 2am phone calls and take them in the adjacent office (he doesn’t have to go trudging the whole house to do his 2am meeting!)
The expansive finished lower level provides gracious in-law suite accommodations. Features include generous living area with wood burning fireplace and custom built-ins, kitchenette (with full size refrigerator, microwave and convection oven), a large bedroom with walk-in closet, full bath, exercise room, and ample storage. An additional back stairwell and private entrance give this lower level true privacy if desired.
The grounds are absolutely stunning and create the perfect environment for a peaceful afternoon or an elaborate pool party. In addition to an expansive patio with outdoor kitchen, a lower level provides a sitting area with wood burning fireplace. The large flat lot features an in-ground pool with diving board, generous grassy areas to picnic or play and a park-like playground nestled in the trees.
My favorite feature of my home is outside on the patio, sitting outside by the fireplace at night, sitting on one of the couches, reading! Our kids have a lot of different interests, a lot of different abilities and so I could have little kids playing in one place like out back in the swing set and big kids in the pool or playing soccer. Our place in the back is a nice place for kids to play. They feel that they’re fully in adventure land even though they’re just in the backyard.
My kids are all college swimmers and we’ve always had huge pool parties and played all kinds of relay games and chicken games, Marco Polo and all that stuff and it’s big enough and deep enough to dive off the diving board. There’s just always kids in the pool! Our whole family loves to have a night time swim, that’s one of our favorite things.
