Dear Future Owners of 325 Gregory,

We bought this house nearly ten years ago when we were newly married and just starting out in our careers. Six years later, we welcomed our daughter and a few years later, our son. Our children have affectionately named 325 Gregory, “the big yellow house” and love to tell people about our home and all the special places within that they call theirs. They especially love creating their own little imaginary world on the chalkboard walls in their playroom.

When we bought this home, it was in great condition, but we felt the need to make it our own and we have updated it accordingly. We remodeled the full bathroom with a marble countertop, subway tile and a deep soaking jetted tub. The bathroom has newer light fixtures, which we are including. The recessed lights over the tub and the chandeliers over the vanity dim to create a spa-like experience. In the kitchen, we installed all stainless steel appliances, a subway tile backsplash, granite countertops and a checkered marble floor. This house has great big closets and we have added storage solutions including a custom closet in the blue bedroom. On each floor, we made design choices that modernized the house while honoring its original integrity.

We have lived well in this home. It is a perfect house to throw a party—inside or out. We have hosted many high-spirited Kentucky Derby parties in the backyard and an annual holiday party accented by a roaring fire in the wood-burning fireplace. We have spent countless warm summer nights, drinking wine on the front porch with our neighbors, who have become lifelong friends. On cool fall nights, we have enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the backyard, roasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories with our kids.

If you have children, they will love the local schools—Playhouse Cooperative Nursery School is absolutely amazing and kids come to West Orange from all the neighboring towns to attend. Kids also love trick-or-treating on nearby Overlook Ave. on Halloween and sledding at Flood’s Hill, right down the road, in the winter. There are endless activities available, within a five-minute drive, at the Essex County Recreation Complex, which includes The Waterfront, Turtle Back Zoo, Codey Arena Skating Rink, Regatta Playground, Treetop Adventure Course, and MiniGolf Safari. We will miss big family walks in the stroller to the zoo on the weekends. The South Mountain Reservation and Meadowland Park are also nearby.

It is bittersweet to say goodbye to this place we have called home for a decade. We will love this house forever and hope that you will find as much happiness here as we have.
