Dear Future Homeowner of 41 Roosevelt Road, Maplewood.

Welcome to our home. A home we love. We will miss it immensely.

We fell in love with 41 Roosevelt Road, back in 2012 and as time has gone on we have only become more and more enamored with it – both inside and out. We love spending time at home and watching the children play in the garden. It will be difficult to find another place where the kids spend so much time outside. This is not least because of the great friends they (and we) have made in the neighborhood. And what great neighbors! Not only neighbors in the immediate and adjacent houses but friends that we have made down the street and in Kermit, Hickory and also Curtis. You will struggle to find a friendlier group of people – all will make you welcome and you will not regret your decision to move into the area.

We also love our home for the comfort it brings inside too. The house is designed to both entertain and relax. The kitchen with its adjacent pantry is perfect for all your cooking needs and has a direct flow to both the dining room and garden deck – it is truly an entertainers household.

In addition, it is a great house to pamper yourself in and chill out. We love the coziness of the main living room with open gas fire, its great to snuggle up to and enjoy a glass of wine and watch a good movie. Plus the spacious second living room is a wonderful room for light and air. With windows on three sides we currently use the room as a pilates studio, but in the past, we have also used as “The Movie and Sports Event” room. It deserves a very large flat screen TV.

We are sure, like us, you will enjoy upstairs too. We love the bedrooms, walk in robes, and 2 new bathrooms. All are spacious and have substantial storage. As people who hate clutter we were very keen to make sure that storage was plentiful. Even the children shouldn’t have any excuse about leaving things out for all to see.

In fact with children and storage in mind, we also redesigned and completely renovated the basement. What initially was a dark, dirty and unfinished large work and laundry room, is now a fully renovated children’s play area with segregated laundry facilities. Like us, I’m sure you will appreciate the access to the basement, through the carefully designed boot room (did I mention storage?) from the adjacent double garage. No getting wet and cold when returning from a drive in a rainstorm in winter in this house. So you see there are many aspects of the house that we will miss; from the renovated design of the property; to the fun of the backyard; to the friends and neighbors.

However, there are other benefits that also make this a great house and great location. Other facets that have exponentially improved our quality of life include:

  • the easy access and commute into the city, 35 mins express to Penn Station, or direct to Hoboken.
  • the school bus stop on the corner of Kermit and Roosevelt (100m from our door) that services the bus that has taken our children to Marshall school
  • The walking distance to Jefferson and Maplewood Middle schools which made life easy for the kids, as they got older, in getting to and from school at their own pace. The fact that these schools were all great and our children actually enjoyed going speaks volumes.
  • Access to Maplewood Tennis Clubs – as tennis players we became members of Maplewood Little Tennis club 3 years ago. It is only 10 mins walking distance from the house (2 mins if your drive) where we have made great friends and improved our ground strokes.
  • The walking distance to South Orange reservation to really get away from it all
  • The walking distance to a night out and entertainment of Maplewood.

And it would be remiss of us not to talk about Maplewood Town itself. What a wonderful place. We fell in love with Maplewood as soon as we saw it, having arrived in the country from Australia in 2011. Initially, we had to rent in Short Hills (due to a lack of rental properties in Maplewood) but when it came to buying a year later there was only one choice.

Maplewood has restaurants, bars, a supermarket, cinema, fish mongers, a bookshop and much more. We love it to bits. It is incredibly charming and wonderful town to live in. We are confident that you will love it too.

With that in mind, we hope you enjoy our home as much as we have.
