Dear Future 430 Lenox Place Homeowners,
When we moved to Maplewood eight years ago, we were searching for a comfortable, updated home, and a peaceful, caring neighborhood where we could happily raise a family while having easy access to New York City for work. After visiting more than sixty houses over eight months, we came across this house located on a quiet and nearly hidden street and thought we had finally found what we were seeking. More than seven years and two children later we are happy to report that we made the right choice.
We were immediately drawn to how family friendly the house was: updated kitchen, half-bathroom on the main floor, sunny, and open floor plan, spacious and air-conditioned upstairs bedrooms, and finished play areas in the basement and third floor. It quickly checked all of the boxes we had for a comfortable, easy-to-maintain home. And with two playgrounds, fields and a wonderful elementary school right around the corner, we had definitely met our match!
The outdoor space was also enticingly unique. The oversized backyard has provided not only a large play area for our kids and an ample space for a garden but also a great place for entertaining. We have hosted sledding play dates in the winter and family birthday parties in the summer by just walking out of our back door. Our guests have also enjoyed sitting up on our deck looking out at the trees gently swaying above and fireflies lighting up the natural world below.
But what first drew us to the house was the location. Lenox Place is one of the only flat streets in South Orange and Maplewood that does not serve as a cut through. As a result, traffic is infrequent and you regularly see children running and playing in the street. Our own children learned to ride bikes and scooters at all hours of the day. And its proximity to both downtown South Orange and Maplewood meant we always had easy options for commuting and enjoying local restaurants and shops.
Finally, it is hard to say how wonderful our neighbors have been: they have been the perfect blend of friendly, supportive, social, and respectful of space and privacy. What is of course so important and so hard to figure out when looking for a house is who you will be living near every day and it is hard to say enough positive things about the people and families who live on Lenox Place and the community they have built on this amazing street. We have made many friends in the immediate area and have been able to lean on them in times of need in the last seven years.
In sum, the home is a wonderful place to raise a family and build a life – we imagined living here for many years, but a work opportunity has called us to relocate. We are certain you will build your own enjoyable memories while living here.
