LETTER TO FUTURE OWNER

Dear Prospective Buyer,

Seventeen years ago, we moved to Maplewood after an impromptu dinner with friends living here. The short commute to NYC, welcoming and diverse community, and good public schools – with admirable art and music departments easily won us over. Incredible walkability within the town and proximity to the South Mountain Reservation sealed the deal. We wanted to live here!

We’d been looking at homes for a few weeks when we stepped inside 82 Courter Avenue for the first time. The warmth of the wood trim and built in details instantly charmed. A big sunny kitchen looking out over the backyard where our children would play was a dream come true.

We’ve shared cooking experiments and family meals the warmth of that bright kitchen. We’ve gathered around the fire on cold nights, sharing stories and playing board games. Our boys spent many summer afternoons playing in a “house” grown from sunflowers and morning glories in the garden and meeting up with the other kids on the block to run through sprinklers and play tag.

The Hilton Library is right around the corner and that meant our house was always full of books. Maplecrest Park is a half block away, and we’ve enjoyed the playground, tennis courts and skate park. As our boys got older, they could walk or ride bikes to the fantastic Maplewood pool complex.

We feel particularly lucky to have found this beautiful home, but we were also incredibly fortunate to land on this special block. We’ve kicked off sixteen summers at the block party, celebrated births and weddings, helped each other through illness, and borrowed each others tools – and the occasional cliché cup  of sugar.

It will be difficult to leave, but we are looking forward to our next chapter. We’re excited for the next lucky family to build memories in this special home.

Best Wishes,
