West Orange NJ

West Orange is a sprawling community, just 18 miles west of New York City, that borders such towns as Livingston, South Orange, Montclair, and Roseland, featuring a variety of home styles, including pre-war colonials, huge contemporary mansions, and a number of townhouse complexes.

In addition to its beautiful residential properties, West Orange also houses a number of worthy commercial assets.  The beautiful Turtle Back Zoo, with its variety of animals and wild-life, is a perfect kid-friendly activity.  Right next to it is the Richard Codey Arena, an ice hockey/ice skating rink that is also home to the NJ Devils as their practice facility.
The downtown area of West Orange boasts Llewellyn Park, one of the country’s first planned communities, with its estate homes and wooded landscaping, which boasts the old home of Thomas Edison.  He resided there with his wife and is buried on the property, now part of the Edison National Historic Site.

West Orange also has a variety of  restaurants and wedding facilities, including the famous Manor, as well as Pleasantdale Chateau and the Highlawn Pavilion, which overlooks the South Mountain reservation and views of New York City.  There are many recreational outlets in West Orange also.  From a number of sprawling golf courses, to parks and the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Theatre, there is something for everyone.

West Orange also has an express bus into Port Authority.  Its route picks people up all over town, and there is also a 500 car Park-n-Ride where you can leave your vehicle and ride the bus into NYC.  There are also 2 jitneys that can take you into the South Orange train station, which takes you direct into NY’s Penn Station.

West Orange is a beautiful community that meets the needs of different people and cultures, and presents an assorted housing stock for all types of budgets.
